Collagen Hot Cocoa

This morning I was making mommy's special hot chocolate which of course made Tyson want some of his own....I literally said, "Ok, wait one minute don't touch anything." Right as I turned to grab the blender and turned back around I saw two eyes blinking through a layer of cacao powder licking his lips and making a disgusted face because this was definitely NOT his hot chocolate lol. He had reached up on the counter (I forget how tall he is now) and dumped the cacao everywhere. It got in his hair, all down his shirt, in his diaper and of course all around him on the floor.  After cleaning him up, it took me three different times of mopping to get all of it up. Gotta love being a mom.

So speaking of "mommy's special hot chocolate"..... I am super excited to share not only a yummy recipe with y'all, but also one that is literally going to help make you beautiful from the inside out. I've been doing a lot of research recently on collagen and the benefits of taking collagen peptides. As women we are constantly hearing of ways to promote, stimulate, and enhance our collagen to help make our skin more youthful and who doesn't want that!? We put on creams and do collagen promoting facials, but have you ever thought of putting that goodness inside of you? By taking collagen peptides you will be promoting younger looking skin but check out the list below of what else it will help!

1. Supports Nail Growth
2. Helps Replenish Moisture levels in your hair
3. Helps Reduce exercise related injuries to the muscle, tendons, and ligaments
4. Helps with weight management
5. Supports a healthy gut

Isn't that amazing!? I mean hair skin and nails alone caught my attention. I think that's what the majority of us think of when we think of collagen, but collagen is the most abundant protein in our body, so it makes sense that if we help supplement what's being taken out of our processed foods today, we'll notice a difference in the above mentioned areas as well.

So I grabbed this canister of Collagen Peptides from my local Whole Foods, and so far am loving it! I've added it to protein shakes, but I think my favorite way to take it right now is by making my hot chocolate. I don't drink coffee, but I do like a warm drink in the morning to get me going. This time of year it just only seems right that it should be hot chocolate. I think my favorite part about this recipe is that the collagen makes it frothy on top giving it the feel of steamed milk. Yum!!

Collagen Hot Cocoa

1 cup Almond Milk
2 tsp pure Cacao Powder
1 scoop Collagen Peptides
1 Tbsp Organic Honey (or to taste)

Boil or microwave 1 cup Almond milk. Combine all ingredients in personal sized blender (like the nutribullet) and blend for 30 seconds or until combined. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!
